Interview
Blog Well no immigrants without going through the story of the conceived interview.
thing I want to remind people who have not yet begun their process is that it is useless to hire an agency or attorney to represent them. The steps are simple: fill out forms and collect certificates (which anyway should ask yourself).
We were told the date of the interview with two months in advance. All this time we served as preparation. We had to justify our desire to settle in Quebec, beware this is not to say how bad we are in Colombia and Canada looks cute in the pictures, it's going to tell a counselor why this election , why Quebec?
Well, would that we had enough time to prepare. I, being the principal applicant was extra nervous. All because of that? For a few months earlier had asked the English tourist visa to visit my favorite uncle in the world. I continued repeating: "If I refused a tourist visa as hell going to get a permanent residence in a country that I have not visited?"
Fortunately, we had a well-known in Quebec who wrote to us some soothing words, among others, and something that is logical and you forget that the Canadian government as opposed to English, has an open door policy to immigration.
As most helpful: it can be heard speaking French "Quebeckers" most of the immigrants studied French standard. All this gave me back my confidence, faith and even sleep. It was a nice gesture on their part, taking the time to talk a while with us, some virtually unknown, and only a few days of the interview, looked more like some fallen angel from heaven.
At last the great day we were traveling to Bogotá. We arrived a day early to not look so tired after ten hours of travel. We spend our day talking in French, repeating a thousand times the responses of our interview "example."
The appointment was at 14 h. We left at 12 h to avoid any traffic jam Bogota. We arrived at 12 h 45. Lunch near the embassy! We naively ... We got a taxi and went to the embassy ... was closed, of course. We went to the mall which is just in front ... Do not we have lunch! It was a nervous wreck awful, I felt I had no stomach, just a knot in your area ... He, head of household with nerves of steel, calmed his anxieties giving me encouragement. We decided not to think about anything and just see the windows as I went along ... In addition we were very cute in our costumes ... as if we were top executives who hung out there holding hands ... 13 h 45
We headed for the embassy. We waited patiently to be opened. Receptionist arrived, we announced and made us wait a moment ... called a master of that I remember nothing, except that he was very friendly and told us we have to go to the hotel is in front of the embassy, \u200b\u200band that Mr. consultants did not like the place ... "What ????" Thought I, "that guy must be jodidisimo!" We exchanged a look of confusion mixed with terror with my husband ... Back to the mall where we had spent an hour walking around ... We
the hotel lobby. The guards a remark much. Come to the immigration interview, right?
- Aha (That we betray?)
- Already announced.
We seized, but our guide since he spends all day on that "escorting" the candidates on one side of the street to another. Useless to take it through so much trouble ...
A woman seized me. Very nice.
- You nervous?
- Many.
- Quiet is going to go well.
- Thanks!
Then the elevator. The knot in my stomach did not want to loose ... always held hands this time with great force, such as mood happening to us, so in an unbreakable bond ...
Minutes eternal waiting in the hallway waiting for Mr. "Terrible" opened the door ... Finally opened:
- Good evening doctor, (the guide said)
- Good morning (says Mr. Terrible)
What! English Translator? We thought we (what a relief).
- Here are the candidates, so long!
- Ok (Answer Mr. Terrible)
- Bonjour!
- Bonjour Monsieur (answer in unison)
We realized that probably "Good morning" in English would be all you would hear, and it was.
Well then after the presentations and sit the interview began.
And he was right. Next to the embassy are building two buildings ... never thought of that! That always thinking the worst evil-minded!
And so ended our interview ... The consul commended us even hugged us, told us never forget, we moved almost to tears, so much effort and preparation is summarized here, all we ever expect to come out so wonderful ....
"Vous avez très bien réussi, bravo! Soyez à votre nouveau pays bienvenus"
We do not go walking ... we flew! A new chapter in our lives begin, the September 18, 2007. We will never forget "Monsieur Poisson non plus"
