Over the age of workers in Québec

Many times you hear talk here about the problem with Quebec regarding the age of workers. The problem is basically the aging of the population capable of working, which can lead to a reduction in manpower required in different jobs.

The phenomenon is known as "baby boom " and is associated with increased birth rates in many countries after the Second World War (decades of 50 and 60). All these people will retire in the coming years and there is generational change needed to fill the void that left. This phenomenon is now called " papy boom.

In part (taken from the statistical office of Canada) shows the evolution of the population by broad age groups (children, people working age and elderly). One can see that the year 2010 onwards the curve of those aged 15-64 begins to drop.

I bring the subject up, as factory where I am working most of the employees have a certain age. This eventually could open up job opportunities for immigrants, but it is nevertheless worth mentioning also that the labor market is competitive and that the person should be well poised to tap into a good job.

should also add that the Quebec government, possibly to mitigate this problem, wants to punish, to put it in some way, people who retire before age 65, to press for people continue in their jobs.

In summary, I believe that this phenomenon opens up job opportunities that immigrants can be exploited in the coming years.

Master Locks Change Combination

Internship (Stage) in Weedon

Finally I am doing training in Electro to do an internship of three weeks in a factory (which here is called " stage"), to learn more about the labor market and put into practice the knowledge acquired. I had some trouble finding the place to do the internship, I finally located myself in a factory near here (on Boulevard de Portland, Sherbrooke industrial park). The factory makes different products, but most sellers are pigments for cement. These products allow you to do architectural work where the cement is of different colors. It also sells machines to make cement mixtures automated in order to achieve different colors. Especially in the manufacture of these machines is that I was working those days. My main task was to wire electrical panels for these machines. The circuits are handled with Omron PLCs, with their input and output cards and they handled different relays and contactors to operate the various pneumatic valves that have the machine. The truth has been an interesting experience, and people have been very kind to me.

Parallel to this, I started the job search because I needed a week to complete the training. I started to apply everything simepre one you have heard about the job search (devote sufficient time, bring a resume and cover letter as the use to which it is postulated, use network, etc.) And I quickly called the first interview. For the interview I tried to also apply what they have always said to these situations: be quiet and look to the employer, show available for work to do, try to respond accurately to what you ask, etc) and tell them that I start work next Monday. I did not think were going to hire me so quickly and that before I took a little shock and I still have a week to complete the stage, so I'll finish the stage in the factory where I work.

Then I will tell you more details. For now I just have the idea that maybe the Pereira, (you can read his blog here) is right ...

I left a picture of the type of Masquin where I was working those days. The mixture leaves ready to drop it in the truck.

Wrestling

We've always been a bit fond of wrestling. Usually we see something on television, but had never been to a wrestling show. In recent days I saw in the press that they were making a wrestling show in a town near here (Weedon) and asked if the children wanted to go and they said yes, then we went on Saturday to watch the show.

The show seemed better than I expected. A lot of fighting and the quality was not much to envy what you can watch on TV. Fighters had good and bad. The latter were quite tricky, and cunning won some battles. Some bought the referees to judge behalf.

Interestingly one of the referees was a friend of ours. We had known in another context and did not know who participated in these shows. We were glad to see someone famous there.

Good thing we arrived early and then we could watch the fights closely. The trouble is that sometimes I felt prepared for some stunts. Overall we had a pretty good. Suddenly we go to the next thing will be done in East Angus next month. I leave you a video, but it was not very good quality, because I did it with the camera.

How To Change The Colour Of Brick Exterior

on food here in Quebec

One of the strong cultural differences I've noticed here among Latinos and Quebecers is related to the food. In general, Quebecers eat lots of fast foods and many foods frozen. Latinos, on the contrary we have a stronger tendency to cook. This I think is good in terms of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc. but I think it can be quite harmful in cholesterol (sometimes eat a lot of fried things).

Regarding the topic, some people have asked me if you can get here typical of Colombia to cook different Creole recipes. The answer is that, generally, if possible. I decided then to make a short list of things that can be obtained and the approximate values.

1. Bananas . They are sold in supermarkets. Usually get about a dollar a pound.

2. Yuccas. They are available in Latino grocery stores. Usually costs between 1.30 and $ 1.70 a pound.

3. Panela. can get in the Latino stores. Costs about $ 2 each panel.

4. Arepas and flour to make arepas. The stores sold in Latin. Prices vary because sell corn arepas with cheese, cassava, etc.

5. Avocados . It is available in supermarkets and Latino stores. The selling is the Hass avocado, which is much smaller than the avocado we know in Colombia. Normally brought from Mexico. Each avocado can cost about $ 1.30.

6. Other products. In supermarkets you can find other products such as gooseberries, figs, etc. but usually the prices are somewhat high. In stores you can get gas Latino Colombian, milo, chocolate jet, etc.

take this opportunity to invite readers to visit the website of the Latin Store which we ourselves, which is called "Cravings Latinos and has just launched its website.

Some recommendations on the use of credit cards animated film

One of the difficult issues to manage here is related to finance. This is a consumer society and as such encourages people to spend, sometimes disproportionately. According to an article in the press (which you can read here ) 3 in four Canadian households are highly indebted. For this reason I want to give some advice for especially newcomers and those yet to come that can help them better manage finances.

1. Credit card banks. This is very important to have credit cards. There are some transactions can only be made by credit card. Also a good use of credit card lets you do a credit history that can be used to ask you a loan then a bank, make a mortgage to buy a house, etc. But credit cards do not work as in other countries. In Colombia, for example, when a credit card purchase was asked few shares desired, and thus could better control the monthly fee was paid. Not here, all different in many contributions (I think 36, although I'm not quite sure) so that the minimum balances to pay end up being ridiculously low. If you pay only the minimum balance, you will need in some cases 10 years or more to pay off your balance. The recommendation is then always pay above the minimum balance. If you can buy things and pay the better next month, because this will generate a credit history without having to pay interest.

2. Number of credit cards. For the newcomer it is sometimes difficult give the first credit card, because it has no credit history here. However, banks that have moved and now have programs for newcomers. It is recommended to check with the banks on these programs, as they may be useful for those just arriving. The fact is that after getting the first credit card, you start to regularly get offers from other credit cards. The suggestion is not to accept many credit cards as if more will be completed using these cards and you could end up with a higher debt than you can afford.

3. Credit Cards stores. Most stores offer credit cards with which you can buy and collect points. However, these cards handle relatively high interest compared to credit cards from banks. For this reason, I recommend well informed before taking one of these cards.

4. Interest rates on credit cards. When a person is newly arrived and have no credit history and assign a credit card, we normally apply the highest rate (typically 26% per year). After a time (usually 6 months) and if you managed well the card, you can request lower interest rates and insurance (19.5% normally annually). It must then pay attention to this, as it is usually necessary to call for the reduction of the interest.

This, for some similar reason, it feels as if it were more important than the public itself:

Drmrsvandertramp Study

This Story to like. I will give one more reason to come. I only ask you not to forget that this is just a bit of the other side of the same coin.

bus was going in the way of Montreal, like all day. 7:30 am, heading to work. Champlain spent on the bridge when I heard that one of the passengers I see every morning (always the same people) said in French that someone had jumped off the bridge. That's the kind of French that one has after almost 5 years of living here. Misunderstood. What he actually said (I later learned) is that a girl had fainted. (The little message here is for those who always talk about improving the language, which I think does not exist)

She was lying next to one of the windows. The passenger who had been held immediately after the girl's head. Did not last long. Soon time and was awake, but breathing deeply and moaning in pain. The other passengers helped and gave him something to drink. Everyone very supportive.

The French message was addressed to the bus driver who immediately reported the situation to some sort of communications center. The driver explained that he could not stop in the middle of the bridge. After crossing the bridge, parked on the side of the road. 2 minutes after a police car arrived. She was a woman. He boarded the bus and instructed to ask questions and care for the girl. 2 minutes later, 2 fire trucks arrived. Jumped on the bus at least 6 fire with all kinds of equipment physicians. The girl he was given a mask to breathe and will surely took vital signs.

4 minutes later an ambulance. They were already 4 cars. Two paramedics boarded and took care of the girl.

the end, I knew not what stopped the story because half of the passengers moved us to another bus, but surely it was taken in the ambulance to a hospital for tests rigor.

Two things I look fabulous. The first is that the girl may have been suffering from a stomach maluquera normal or you could be hurting a tooth. No one dared to "diagnose" or consider it to be something simple. They left that concept to a medical professional who evaluated you probably all a few minutes after we left.

The second, the attitude of the people. It's the same people they always traveled and who never exchanged words. Everyone usually goes silent, but practically we know. However, did not miss the helping hand and everything was in the midst of an absolute peace and respect for the affected.

Nobody shouted "fucking Ole! Make it as I'm in a hurry! Or think I'm going to the house of his mother ????"

Claims Letter For Housing Allowance

The Quebec order of engineers

Last Saturday we did a " sancocho (Colombian food) in the company of another Colombian family, also from Armenia, and came here to Sherbrooke about the same time as us. He is an electrical engineer and since his arrival began the process to validate your title and enter the Quebec order of engineers. Of course, in this way he met people who encouraged him in his project and others that said it was very difficult. Well, now I said that already belongs to the order of engineers here and that shows that these processes may be a bit complicated but are nevertheless possible.

The conclusion I draw, especially aimed at those who recently arrived or are still in their country of origin, they think they want to do here in Canada and make every effort to get it, without giving much importance to opinions or ideas of others. Of course you can listen to some advice, but it should be everyone who must make decisions.

Juana's cousin arrived about 3 weeks ago. It endured my nagging and after making almost every lap (Day or day and a half at most), began to send resumes. On Monday of last week was a first person interview with a company. Interview with human resources, technical review and interview with technical staff. Felt it was quite right in the exam. He said news would give 2 or 3 weeks.

The next day, Tuesday, they called to say he had passed the first stage and was now a second, consisting of checking references. For me, it was obvious that he had obtained the job. After turning in the references (Colombia), an hour later, they called to say he began to lock el lunes siguiente.

Podrían haber aplicado canadienses con menos experiencia o sin la required attitude or without the knowledge required.

You think that here companies are perfect, everything works like clockwork, that all processes and procedures are clearly defined and written and everyone follows them. Nothing. They have the same problems that always found in the Colombian organizations.

I hope the comments that say that the success of the cousin of my wife because you have a career in computing. Learning to ski Some Canadian policy

One of the projects we had this winter was to learn to ski. My wife and I decided to postpone it for next winter, but the children if they took advantage and learned to ski. We took them to Mont Bellevue we pay for each hour with a teacher, and that was enough. Although you may still need to improve their style, it spent the rest of the afternoon throwing for two of the tracks.

In my ignorance I thought the ski poles were necessary (that's what I've always seen in movies). However, the instructors said it was better they ski without poles. At first did not believe that, but actually find the children learned to ski without poles.

I leave two videos of children. In the first are skiing and the second are climbing the mountain in the chairs ...

What Kind Of Mucous You Get When You're Turned On

This week has been very lively in politics here in Canada. For those who are not familiar with the political situation in Canada, trartaré to make a small summary of what happens, from my point of view.

In Canada there are 4 political parties. The Conservative Party led by Stephen Harper as prime minister, who despite being a minority is the minority unless the minority (good twister, no?) and is therefore currently in power. Follow the Liberal Party led by Michael Ignatieff. Then there is the Bloc Québécois led by Gilles Duceppe, who defends the interests of Quebec at the federal level. And finally there is the New Democratic Party Jack Layton NPD.

What happened this week was that Prime Minister Stephen Harper introduced his proposed budget, which was rejected by Parliament, which prompted a call for early elections for May. Stephen Harper accused the Liberals, the Bloc Quebecois and the NDP to form an alliance to defeat him. Faced with this accusation, Ignatieff was quick to say that there has been nor will there be a connection with the Bloc Québécois, because he knows that if he can creeen liberal alliance with the Quebec Liberals surely punish themselves at the polls.

is good to clarify that the Bloc Québécois is a party that works at the federal level but has a vote only in Quebec, since it aims only party seeking independence for the province. It's just obvious to think that Canada's Liberals would rather an alliance of his party with Quebec separatists. This has been used by Harper to accuse the Liberals and Bloc Québécois have uan hidden agenda and lie to their followers. Is say, Harper suggests that liberals and Quebecers whether they should be allies but do not tell that to voters. Ultimately, the conservatives want to push the vote against a possible alliance with Quebecers could trigger a possible new referendum on Quebec.

What will happen? I think that will happen about the same as in 2008, that is, the conservatives will continue to be minority but can not make a coalition to defeat Stephen Harper, so I think he will continue as prime minister of Canada.

Finally, I find it curious how it is done here in political advertising television. Most ads of the political parties are engaged in attacking the other candidates rather than highlight their own. For sample I leave these ads that are currently happening on television. (It also left some of the elections of 2008).

Do You Get Sick Often With Hiv

The summons is dated March 18, but was now 23. The account given then for almost 13 months since I sent the application in February 2010.

The test date is April 4. We must bring ID card, residence and the original Confirmation of permanent residence. Just turn carry all the passports, I guess to discuss the issue of leaving the country.

The invitation document only says you have to study the guide and also emphasize that there will be an interview in one of the official languages.

Recently my friend William published an article on some mobile applications where one of them is called "How Canadian are you, huh?". As this application is posted on the website of Immigration Canada. There's even a link to all the questions available. Handed them to my friend Ana Maria, who recently became a Canadian, and he said that test questions are part of it which are literally entered on the page. To me, Canada is half repented of the "hard" re-evaluation, trying to give more tools to facilitate the study and again make the hand of people who should be losing. At the end of the day, when people lose the exam, but with red and everything, you end up giving the public at the end.

10 common places for immigrants (to think)

There are some phrases I've heard many times from the mouths of immigrants and that at first sight may be very logical, but in my opinion, deserve more thought to determine their true scope. Not to create controversy try not to think about them, but if I say that in general, differ from most of these cliches I've heard, although I recognize that each case is unique and some might have felt any of these statements. Here are some ...

1. This is best not to buy a home, because taxes must be paid are high.

2. Undeclared work is better because if it is declared lost social support and many other benefits.

3. It is best not to apply for citizenship when they meet the requirements because they have more advantages as a permanent resident.

4. In my home was professional and I would downgrade if I study here a technical or work as a technician.

5. I'll study in college. Since I know English, and speak French and know a little English, it is best to seek a degree in languages.

6. The best thing here is to a business. Suddenly, a Colombian restaurant (or Latin) is the best option.

7. No use much to study the language from the country of origin because the final here talking about a very different way.

8. In France they speak a more correct French here in Quebec.

9. Quebecers are cool and people found it difficult to make friends with them.

10. I have felt discriminated against (in the studio, at work, etc.) Because they do not speak French and the Quebecois.

What do you think? With what you agree and what not?

How To Get The Flem Out Of One Year Old'sthroat

Chess Championship

Since childhood I liked to play chess but almost never had taken very seriously. Now that I've retired from football due to injury, I decided to spend a little more time to chess and then I went to a club that exists here in Sherbrooke and running on Friday night in the library facilities. Every week we play small tournaments species with different times. Sometimes he plays fast games (Blitz) where each player has only 5 minutes to think, or semirápidas (15 minutes per player), Semilente (25 minutes per player), slow (1.5 hours per player), etc. Depending on the mode of night, more or less games played using the Swiss system and the final classification is known of everyone in this minicampeonato.

The truth is that people are very friendly and I had a great time at the club.

But really what I want to say is that last weekend the club hosted the winter championship chess, the 5 rounds Swiss system. The time spent was an hour and a half per player for the first 30 moves and an additional hour to reach checkmate. So every game could last up to 5 hours. I was not quite decided to participate, because I really hardly competed in chess. In Colombia you ever participated in the championship city of Armenia and once in the department of Quindio, with results quite modest. However, in the end I decided and I got an honorable second place with 4 wins and a lost game (4 / 5), against opponents who have relatively good ranking. In addition to a prize of $ 96, I had the satisfaction of having played a good game.

Here is the link to the website of the Chess Club Sherbrooke.

How Can You Stop Police On Gta Iv

Martha made a comment in the previous entry. If readers have subscribed to the comments, I would transcribe it here:

If the attitude is definitely! And I thank you for giving me encouragement in those moments of depression when you think pq not give me the job? Is it that I am not qualified for it? I just do not express it? That's what happens ...?
But as you told me once .... I just needed a yes, and in the absence of one I had two, after about 12 interviews and sent about 500 hp (I worked so that the number 13 is a number of lucky), I acknowledge that I was not as disciplined in my search and that's why it's feasible.
And here's my story .... A little summary pa bore no
I am systems engineer and equivalence that I did was a Bac Genie Informatique, so my search is I started with a profile according to my studies and experience (software development, quality analyst). The first interviews a little nervous, aunq and I had prepared for typical questions and I felt fine, but ... there was always that I wanted to know more q q era, and wrote to them asking NO pq I was accepted, (to improve ff interviews), they are very diplomatic and just sent me a letter or email or call me to tell me "malheuresement ... ..." and now I know the rest .... q disappointment! ... that depression! ... pq each of the interviews that this was an illusion to me, when one is expecting her first job in another country in another language ... is a bit traumatic to be told that NOT knowing pq ... and the worst is that you start speculate ... to feel less unmotivated ... q other ... anyway ... fortunately I had people around me that motivated me and gave me courage to keep fighting, including Juan Diego, who aunq sometimes scolded me, it was necessary for me to shake and persevere ... pq after this experience I am sure that endures COME!
I chose which of the two options I accept and I am not mistaken, so I start work next March 21 is the day most anticipated by me after a long time.
My advice is ... "Never stop dreaming, because dreaming is the beginning of a dream come true" and I dreamed what I am now, where I am, I wanted to find love and That Job have .... I say is important as have attitudes, not being influenced by the negative comments and assumptions of others, be sure it is what you want ... and trust your skills !!!!!
And again many thanks to Juan Diego by phone by his ear and make me aware that "job search" is a full time job!

Sample Of Daily Report

The kind of stories I like to tell
This friend of mine, which incidentally is what we call a "glory national, was visiting a health care institution on the south shore. When I left there with his wife, looked half pan the scene and said: "What a place so cool it would be rich working here." He asked the first officer he met if he knew if perhaps there might be hiring. The official gave the name of a person who could give more information. My friend found this guy who in turn asked if he had with him a resume. My friend did not have it but offered to provide it the next day. So he did. Week and a half later, after an interview had the job. He's happy.
Attitude "no?
