Coldsnap

Yesterday and today have felt here in Sherbrooke the cold wave that is sweeping throughout Québec. This morning when I came to study were to -31 degrees Celsius. It is important to note that this figure must be added what they call the "wind chill " , which is a figure that indicates how the wind can make you feel colder than they actually are doing. For example, you may be doing -31 degrees Celsius, but the wind chill was -14 degrees Celsius believe in, then it feels really a temperature of -45 degrees Celsius. And indeed when one goes out it feels a little more cooler than normal. Fortunately the children had no school today and could stay home and rest.

The company that supplies electricity has announced that there is a high consumption, since a large percentage of the heat of the city is electric, and therefore invite people to consume as little energy as possible in order to prevent damage to the electrical grid.

My fellow Quebecers with whom I spoke today in the climate, show a kind of pride about the weather conditions here. It does not seem very extreme cold and in general people and institutions treat all things go on as normally as possible.
